Requirements for the Online Training Centre

 

Getting Set up for Online training

Availability

The Online Training Centre is available to all current ShipConstructor UM&S customers. Each login account covers all users at your facility. If you are not sure of your current account number and password, email us to obtain login information. If you would like a temporary login to review the training materials, please let us know.

Prerequisite Skills & Knowledge

The following skills and knowledge will help you take full advantage of the ShipConstructor training materials.

AutoCAD Skills

You should be familiar with AutoCAD version 2007 or 2008, and understand the use of AutoCAD:

  • Layers
  • Model space
  • Command line
  • Copy and draw functions
  • Shading

Ship Design

You should be familiar with the process of ship design and have a clear understanding of:

  • Frame numbering conventions
  • Throw directions for all plate parts
  • Brackets and stiffeners
  • Hull design lines

Computer Specifications

Viewing the Tutorials

Tutorial videos, text content and quizzes can all be accessed using a typical home or personal computer meeting the following specifications:

  • 1.8+ MHz CPU; 1 GB RAM; 3 GB disk space
  • 17" display with 1024x768 min resolution (1280x1024 recommended)
  • Audio output via speakers or headphones
  • High-speed Internet connection

Completing the Exercises

To complete the exercises, your computer must meet the following additional specifications:

  • AutoCAD 2007 or later with ShipConstructor 2008 or later
  • Intel 3.0 GHz CPU; 2 GB RAM; 5 GB disk space
  • An AutoCAD-supported graphics card
